then type "demo (whateverdemonameyouwantgoeshere)" without the () obviously, then type "g_synchronousclients 0"

To stop recording, type "stop"

Here is a nice little script I made for recording demos. You hit F5 to start it and then F5 again to end the demo. It will also take a screenshot of the scores when you turn the demo off. Just put the script in your autoexec.cfg file in your mp directory:

// *************************************************
// DEMO RECORDING
// *************************************************
set demoon "g_synchronousclients 1; record; g_synchronousclients 0; bind F5 vstr demooff"
set demooff "stoprecord; +scores; wait 110; screenshot; -scores; bind F5 vstr demoon"
bind F5 "vstr demoon"

good info
do you take that script that you wrote and paste it into the sof2mp.cfg file?

also how do you view the demo file?

thanks

peace
put the script in the autoexec.cfg in the /base folder

to view the demos open a mp game and type this into the console:

/demo

(no brackets around the filename)
Ok thank you, I have one more question though.

I put that script in the .cfg file and now f5 should start recording a demo as well as stop a demo.

How do you name each demo or is there only one and then you type in the console /demo then does it provide you with a list?
heh strike that last question I have a new one

tried going into a mp game and just being at the prompt where you can choose games and typed in

/demo 0001

looks good going to loading screen then comes up with unable to view demo0001.mp blah blah blah

any suggestions
did you have the file 001 in your mp/base/demos directory?

yes sir

file demo0000.dm_2004 is in the base/mp/demos file

i tried /demo 0000 and got that error
try
\demo demo0000

you must write down the complete file name without the extension, when using the \demo command

example for a demo file named "My demo with a long filename.dm_20004":
\demo "My demo with a long filename"

I had already tried that with no luck

still nothing

/demo0000
/ demo 0000
/ demo0000
\demo 0000
\ demo 0000
\demo0000
/demo demo0000
sorry forgot to add that one

/demo demo0000

couldn't open /demo demo0000

Sorry for all the problems but when and if I figure out how to do it I will be able to save others the heartache bye offering up what you have helped me with.

Peace
Get Seismovision @ http://www.planetquake3.net/seismovision/

Be sure to get the SoF2 1.02 AVA update to view 1.02 demos. Then you just double click the demo in windows explorer

Um, I have no autoexec.cfg in my base folder.... any ideas why? Do I have to create one?
why would you want an autoexec.cfg file

I would rather have a sof2mp.cfg file

are you confusing dos and sof2?
The autoexec.cfg file needs to be created by the user and is executed everytime sof2 starts up. I use it instead of my sof2mp.cfg because the sof2mp.cfg is written and controlled mainly by the game. The game cannot edit my autoexec.cfg. You can also put in more advanced scripts in here too.

When you view it type the .dm_2004 at the end of your file name and see if that works.

So for demo0000 it would be

/demo demo0000.dm_2004 to view it.
