5v5 rd ladder scoring question(admins)

Scoring

A point is scored by eliminating the other team, or in the case of the “attackers” a point will be earned by successfully stealing the briefcase from the “defending” team or if the "defending" team successfully defends the briefcase for the entire round. For each map, each side will be played until 5 points have been scored, and then teams will switch sides and play until 5 more points have been scored. The total points scored will be added for each team. The team with the greater number of points is declared the winner of that map.

Does this mean the first to hit 5 points wins the side and the you switch to the other side. (the way we have been playing and others) it also goes by map wins and not total score from maps.

Or is it the total b/w the 2 teams equal.
Example:3-2 switch or 4-1 switch or 5-0 switch

I only ask this because we have been haveing hard time posting scores and i would like a clarification on the rule.

Thanks for the answer in advance.
.........
the way it reads i assume five pts total but I know that is generally not how it's played - we can alter it to say which ever the teams would prefer - either first to 5 or keep it as 5 pts per side of map.
Can we alter the fact that kam5 is in the INF map rotation? Because that is a truly awful INF map
The way I believed you had to play was you play both sides of the map, if you score 3 on red and the other team gets 5 on blue, you have to score 5 before they get 4 or else they would win. Then in an event of a tie you would play to 3 and then alter sides. Adding the points on both sides is how you determine the winner. If we were to play by maps, what if you win red and lose blue? How do you determine the winner? You only have 3 maps...

How it's supposed to work is you play until 5 points have been scored between both teams, then switch sides. Whoever has the most points then wins that map, and you play best 2 out of 3 maps. If both teams are tied on a single map, then you go back to your origional sides and you play until a total of 3 points have been scored - whoever has more points in the tiebreaker then wins that map.

So what you were saying was almost right - if you roll a team 5-0 on one side and then switch, you only have to score 1 point before it's impossible for them to win the map. Since you win based on the number of maps you won, it doesn't matter if you win the map by 1 point or if you roll the other team 5-0,5-0 because both ways you only won 1 map out of a total of 3 maps.
Ok with that said, can you state that more clearly on the rules because i would say almost 90% of the team play first to 5pts by 1 team. Or could we have a 5v5rd inf ladder vote on how we should score it so we dont have to "ASSUME" anything.

In all the matches i have played in, all the clans we faced played first to 5pts by one team. if you look at teh match histories of most of teh clans in that ladder they play the same way.
So could we change or vote to have the scoring 2st to 5pts by 1 team then switch instead of the way you stated above?

This is just an idea but i think alot of team would prefer the first to 5 pts by a team over combined totals by the teams.

To make things simpler: the debate is between first to 5, or best to 5?
All teams play first to 5, and you are stating the rules are best of 5? Not only is that not the way anyone plays, but its very, very lame. Basically part of the appeal of INF is that on a given round a team could do any number of things (rush, camp, etc) and that is the overall strategy... playing a map side best of 5 means it could be over in 3 rounds? Sounds stupid. We will continue to play to 5 until instructed otherwise, directly by an admin, and if the other team insists on it only.

In response to the other part of the original question, the winner of the match is decided by maps, not total rounds for all maps.
Also, the overtime (for a given map, not the overtime map) is best of 5, as opposed to first to 5, so why would the regulation play be the same as the overtime play? Especially when it is explained quite differently in the rules.

While I'm sure we've clarified that teams are playing to first to 5 pts and not to 5 pts total, Just to verify this isn't a small contingency of people stating as much, and that it is the actual accepted practice by all, I've placed a small poll up so that input can be collected.

By the weekend we'll make any necessary changes to the rules sets to more clearly define how maps are played/scored based on the poll verification.

SO please make sure to get your teammates to take 10 seconds of their time to go here:

And click a box

And I believe we've fixed the issue with scores not being able to be reported correctly - if there is still problem with that let me know immediately and I"ll dig back into that.
