US2

US2 is annoying the crap out of me.
I'm taking it down for service....back next week sometime.

ahhhh my favorite server I was ranked #1 on it and I ping better on it than I do US1 Hope to see up again soon

not, its getting an upgrade.
going to XP2000 w/512MB.
new 40GB WD 7200RPM drive. try to speed up those map changes.
now theres a Seagate in there...and i just think its crap. and its running a 1.2GHz Tbird. so adding another 400MHz or so, and a better CPU..and faster ram...
it will be mid next week sometime...maybe as late as the end of the week b4 it is back.

wait till the FORCE server comes up it will be two 3.0 gig processors=6 gigs processor,1500 ram or so....two 120 gig hd's,ati radeon 9700 pro 128 mb video card,and a t1 inernet service... thats gonna be by me im makin it and gettin T1 and if any1 is in need of a server in about 2-3 months i'll let u borrow it 4 a match...

40GB ata 133 WD HD.
i think you will find US2 will run better than one...
Im going to try to get US1 out from behind the Packeteer... im sure that is causing some of the issues some folks have seen. sorry, workin on it.

lose the video card....or keep it for your own machine...
the server will not be rendering video, therefore that card is complete overkill and wont effect the gameply by your gamers. FYI. thro anyold cheap card in there . u only need it for when your setting up your server... after that its just an expensive slot holder in a server.

What is the "Packeteer." Is that some packet kiddie doing his thing?

Just a note on the odd side. I got 90 on =US2= and 180 on =US1=. It sounds like you're running them both, but that's an odd disparity.

PsychoFORCE, I suggest doing your homework before getting any new toys. If you hadn't told anyone, you would have wasted big bucks on that VC.

US1 and 2 are both mine and yes im taking care of both.
They are located in two different locations though.

and a Packeteer, is a device used by US1 hosts to limit the traffic. they are running all colocated boxes through this packeteer....and i can be 1 or 2 people could tell you the day it was placed behind this...
for me it was the day my pings jumped by an avg 30Ms.
and i think some of the other issues a few people have seen are also caused by this overused device.

My ping sucks on US servers Dont know why-I have DSL taht might be the problem-but when I got DSL everyone told me DSL was awsome-now I hate it-and have to use it for another 13 months
