Record Video: The Easy Way

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2003-03-04 · 10 posts
A lot of people have been making cheating accusations and it seems screenshots aren't the best for decision making. It's come to my attention that the newest version of FRAPS (yes, the prog that lets u see your FPS) has a new VideoCapture option! Just bind a key then hit it in-game to start the recording. Great for catching cheaters and exposing them.
WARNING:
-Videos are very large, and must be cut down using a compressing program. A 2minute and 45second video takes up 1.5Gigabytes! You won't find any free webhosts that give away that kind of space so keep your videos short and sweet then find a video compressor (yahoo search, google search).

Happy recording

LOL! If this works as it should... all sorts of ideas are popping up... x)
...me and my twisted little mind.. >
thanks MaxX!

Check the "Recording FPS" option. If you're at 15FPS you might either get:
a) Choppy video
b) Fast video
If you're FPS is the highest one (30 or something) you might have the same problem. Try setting it in the middle. PLay around with the settings until you get it right. Just to clarify things, these should be the requirements for your comp (altho not official):
-At least 1Ghz Processor
-At least 256meg RAM
-At least 32Meg Video Card
-At least 5 Gigabytes free on harddrive

If you pass those requirements you should be able to record without a problem. Cheers.

If you have ME or XP, you probably can use Windows Movie Maker (comes with the OS). As for retail there are the following:

For the ones with a number [like (1)] that means they have a review. The review will be by a user and will tell you how good the editing program was. I personally like the Adobe series, but there are other good ones out there. You can eventually add swipes, transitions, multiple boxes with seperate videos in each, and a decent music video once you get your skill up. Baby steps tho, don't try anything extreme on your first outing otherwise you'll end up with a pile of crap and many wasted hours.

I wouldn't be willing to degrade performance with video capture.
