Hm, i always play with everything maxed (including antialiasing) and i have never had that problem

i also have a 2.6 (or so) P4 with plenty of ram, so i have a fast computer and i have never experienced GO going crazy because i'm to fast for it
The too fast thing was the wrong theory when I initially posted the thread. What motherboard/chipset are you using?

Check to see if APIC is on in the bios(Not ACPI).
This seems to be a a problem limited too the Nforce2 boards. I had a hard time killing anything let alone getting out of the spawn , LOL
Dobbs has the same problem with a RDRAM based p4 board. He has yet to try the fix.

Iam glad to see its not a AMD only problem
I was able to notice the problem on a kt400 chipset too. (AMD as well). I think it's something funky with WinXP and the APIC implementation. Need more testing though.

I dun remember what motherboard i use and i don't like to restart my computer (which is the best way to find out exactly what motherboard)...but i know i have APIC in the bios

ug, KT400 chipset sucked..it was disapointing (i am personally an AMD fan...but i can admit that P4s are better and they aren't that much more money anymore)...the speed of the KT400 was actually worse then the KT330 and a lot slower then the KT330A (which is the best AMD chipset out right now)...and yet the KT400 was still more money

i have never had any problem with any game...unless if its an FPS problem, a netcode problem or just a frame tweening problem (1942 for example...1.2 fixed it though)
I have a friend who's having problems as well he could go halfway through map and he keeps warping back. This all started happenning after he installed a new motherboard the amd 2700. There doesnt seem to be a solution from the forums he's read but it only has issues with GO. Mechwarrior he said his PC handles like a breeze and with new vid card he just got even better.
holy shit my computer is to good for gops to i got 2.8ghz gforce4 128mb,512ram,booming sound system and 15,000rpm drive for my games mega fast. ME and ihmo made it the beszt game computer and best way to burn my cash.

Probably needs to do the same fix we all did. Turn off APIC in the bios. (It's not ACPI. They are two different things.)

This requires a reinstall though so it's not a 'simple' approach.
lol, just noticed i was calling it the "KT330" chipset...my bad, i meant the KT333

SS, get more ram....get up to 2gb
well, and a radeon 9700 hundred, and while your at it put in those new titanium fans, and some lights....and stick an alien mask INSIDE your computer with the titanium case with teh window on teh side...and have the cases with the heat sensors on top...paint the case green and black (well, get a black one and paint parts neon green), then stick the alien mask (as mentioned before, like the standard alien type character) in the computer in front of the window...make sure the motherboard is protected from the mask, and make sure its well organized, with teh cords and shit...make sure the mask aint touching the tallest things (prolly your vid card)...then stick lights in the mask at the eyes, and make a remote control to turn them on....hm, then using the case with the place for a fan in the front, take out the botto part (with teh vents, where the air would come through) and like stick something there also, haven't thought of what yet....
then you will have your own less safe low budget alienware

or just do the classic...take out your computer..and stick it in a gateway box, cut holes on the side for the cdrom drives and turn your gateway box into a powerhouse computer (which gateway DOES NOT sell )

then you will be able to talk about your kick ass gaming computer :0
