Reverend Problem..

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2004-04-26 · 7 posts
Multiple players in our clan are having problems starting Reverend. We launch Reverend, the initial splash screen starts and then closes and never relaunches. The onr thing we have in common is that we DO NOT have MOHAA, Spearhead and Breakthrough installed on the "C:" drive. We have the games installed on other drives and not the default drive and path. IS THIS THE PROBLEM? If so, there must be a way to select the path to where the game is installed. Re-installing the games with default settings is NOT AN OPTION. I and others DO NOT want to install the game on our "C:" drive. Does anyone have an answer?

Thanks.

OK Guys....

After working with TROLL tonight, I think I found the problem!!!!
To make a long story short.....

AA, SH and BT MUST BE INSTALLED ON THE "C:" DRIVE.

My MOHAA was installed on my "D:" drive and no matter what TROLL and I tried, I could not get Reverend to work. After I removed the game and re-installed it with the default settings, I finally was able to get Reverend to launch. I still have not tried it with Matchwatch.

It appears that Reverend does not take into account that the game can be installed on a different drive on a system and looks for it on the "C:" drive. If I am wrong then I will appolgize now.

I hope this info will help.

I Talked to Spaz about this. He has Moh aa sh bt on his D drive and worked for him. Are you sure that you did not install it on your C drive then at some point in time move it to your D drive? This will also cause the same problum...FYI

Yeah I have all my games installed on my D drive and I try to keep just my system and vital software on C. MW/Rev runs and I haven't had an issue with any of the versions or beta versions. There may be another nuisance issue here that we may need to adress. The only thing I can add is that I recently had to reinstall my OS and software (2 months ago) and I haven't added very many games back to my system. I went from Win2k to XPpro and I have MOH (all 3), RvS, Halo, Ghost Recon and Heavy Metal FAKK2. In addition I have my usual office and work programs on D.

Troll will help try to resolve this.

Thanks for responding. Here is an update.

As you see in the above comments I was able to get Reverend running after I re-installed the game on my C drive. What I just did was remove the game using the unistall option from the MOHAA program menu. I also deleted the EA games directory from my C drive. I ran a reg cleaner program to remove all traces of the game and rebooted. This was done several times. The game was then re-installed onto my D drive and all of the patches were installed. I did not install BT. Remember that Reverend was still installed. I ran Reverend and it failed. A check mark appears next to Allied Assault, the number to the lower right counts up to 12 then the screen disappears and never returns. So, I removed reverend and re-installed it, but the results were the same.

I am stumped!!! I don't want to run the game or any game from my C drive.

Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated. I am not the only one in the clan that is experiencing this scenerio. Several clan members are.

It has been so long since MOHAA has been installed that I really don't remember if it was ever installed on my C drive. By practice I don't install games on my C drive, but that does not mean that I have not accidentally installed it there in the past.

Thanks

It should work on either drive. This is what I would do. I would delete ALL of both. Deleting all of SH/AA and all of the reverend files installed (make sure to delete the main/mainta folders after you do a manual uninstall and make sure to delete ALL of reverends files) Reinstall AA/SH and patch up to date. Re-Download reverend from TWL and try again connecting to a MW/Reverend required server. Post what your results are plz.
That is what I did Saturday night while I worked with TROLL.

I can only get Reverend to work if I install MOHAA on the C drive.

And I don't think I need to rebuild my system just to get Reverend to work.
