I hope you're joking. They might as well call it Halo: Ascend because that's the only way people will keep playing it.
if it helps you sleep better at night, u can call it what ever you want
not sure why everyone's so butthurt about T:A. I think it's a ton of fun so far. It's not T1 with better graphics, but that's a terrible idea in the first place considering the best stuff about T1 was only do-able because of a glitch.

It needs more of the original weapons/traditional loadouts,. but considering it's going to be in beta for atleast 4 months i'm sure they'll have time to work them in. Also considering creating micro-transactions for new load outs is the business plan for the game, there's prolly gonna be more different types of weapons than borderlands.

As far as skiing(IE: the most important aspect of tribes) goes.. it's really the only tribes game that has got it right IMO. Now they just need to work on packs and more futuristic weapons, which is a really thin line to walk.
Two guns and one of them is always going to be garbage.
Not necessarily, you just have to get use to using them. I hated both of the shotties at first, but now that I figured out how to use them right, they're perfect finishing weapons.

Only loadout that I can think of that doesn't have an effective second is maybe sentinel (sniper loadout) and once you get use to it you can do a fair amount of damage.

They've got a fair amount of little stuff like that to work on, but for something that just left alpha earlier this week , I'd say they're doin good.
its definitely feeling fun so far, but yeah they have to fix a lot of things.

-packs need to be fixed
-an extra gun needs to be added to each loadout
-inventories need actual functionality
-t2 movement physics need to be scrapped in favor of t:v

why the fuck would they do anything to resemble tribes fail, err i mean vengeance. Have you not noticed they are trying to distance themselves from that pos game.
its quite certain that t:v would have been more successful than t2 if the developers weren't forced to stop supporting it, if proper advertising was implemented, and lastly if there was as much (if not more) content as t2.

this leads to the conclusion that T:V's game engine and physics are both vastly superior to its predecessors.

there's seriously no explanation for why people like the sloppiness of t2 compared to T:V lol

Really, care to give me some links to your evidence there? They don't even acknowledge TV in their intro videos, and consider this game the successor to tribes/tribes 2. Wheres your logic now? Fail TV players are fail!

Thankfully all they got to do is create a decent punk buster, which shouldn't be that hard considering you have to register accounts to play and it's an actual company that's running the game now, rather than just a community.

They don't acknowledge T:V because it was never patched and was abandoned from the start. It just didn't have the the hype like T2 did plain and simple. Not because of reviews, but simply because online FPS's weren't generating money and MMORPG's where.

As far as the comparison between t2 and t:v goes, T:V was never ment to be T3, but more less an arena version of T2 until dynamix went under, because they weren't able to make enough money off of T2, which makes sense considering it's only about 30% as good as T1. The idea and early work for T:V got picked up by vivendi and they released what appears to be a early beta (considering the demo has better graphics and more voice commands). Why? I have no idea, that may be part of why vivendi isn't a serious part of the game market anymore.

As for T:V or T2 having superior physics, i feel like T:A is really the only game to get it right since T1 accidentally did over a decade ago. T2 is an utter failure as far as movement goes, T1 was great but it was an accident, and T:V was just too easy. This new one honors T1 and still manages to allow carving and separates jumping from skiing.

Something that would be a reasonable discussion now wouldn't be along the lines of physics, but more-so along the lines of weapons. What packs and weapons did T2 have that, supposably, made it so much better/skilled than t:v?

You answered your own question. T2 is better because its not arena 24/7.

Tribes Vengeance is just team deathmatch plain and simple. You're either dueling in the midfield or chasing the flag carrier. Everything else was just an afterthought. What it DID get right--because thats all it had-- was combat. The freedom of movement, the slow disc making MA's easier, the chaingun. Great combat but such a shallow, shallow game for it to revolve around CTF.

T2 on the other hand blows any of the Tribes games away in terms of content. Content that isn't an afterthought but was meticulously sculpted into greatness. Even the voice animations are so goofy and inspired that you can't help but giggle at such perfect execution. I can't even tell you how much more points I would give T2 over T:V because the "Hi" animation is an actual (and funny) wave, instead of a retarded salute. **Mind you, we're all playing Classic now not that slow as molasses base. They seriously fucked up there**

But in a T2 game there's so much going on at once so much you can do that's its so refreshing everytime. From cloaking and deploying an inv in a Katabatic base, to handpicking a l33t 3man bomber crew that survives the whole map its just an incredibly rich experience.
T2 was my first Tribes game and still my favorite. Never have i laughed so hard playing online from the simplest of things like targeting lasers and enemy players waving at you from a distance.

It's probably the only game i've played that seems like i'm really playing against online people with there own personality's and not against bots with different player names. This and the laughs alone keep me coming back for more.

I see you forgot which game engine they chose to build this game off of.

I'll give you a hint, it has nothing to do with t2.

I've also recalled them stating how unappealing the skiing was in t2.

(Remember, that's why they decided to implement T:V skiing instead of t2 )

...so did your dimwitted mind forget these things? or should I have expected this coming from a T2 player?

So you're saying fighting is a practical and fun option in this game, you're able to chase the flag carrier, the freedom of movement is vastly superior, but there is less content in the game?

What are you babbling about? None of your post make even an iota of sense.
I CLEARLY stated that fighting is fun, and i CLEARLY stated that the game is shallow (for your uneducated mind that means lacking content) because combat is all it has.

EDIT: Maybe you don't understand me. Maybe you say im reiterating myself because you think combat=content. That's probably why you hate T2, because it doesn't revolve around just that. It's also why you can't get your head out of your ass and see the difference between the two games.

Even Steven_Seagal understands the concept of T:V being arena T2(TDM). So.... why can't you?

T:V was the first tribes to use the engine, and with that, they set the standard of what the tribes engine should be.

Hirez saw the perfected physics of T:V and decided to make their game using the Unreal engine.

So tell me, do you have to show off the average t2 ignorance at all times? or are you just daft in general at connecting dots?

YOUR reiterating me, I've already stated that the only thing T:V was missing was the extra content.

But even without the extra content, you don't win any matches playing TDM on a CTF Mode.

Obviously you wouldn't know that since you never play any matches, you only play on pubs.

Speaking of pubs, I'll say this again: all you've ever done was duel in them.

What frightens me is how you can even state such fallacies about the lack of depth in the game when you've only played 10% of it.

I'm starting to think that you don't even know what TDM is. Here's a lesson; when a fps game gets an improvement in combat physics, the mode doesn't get renamed to TDM.

By you logic, I can say that t2 is the T:V Rabitting Mode

Thanks for proving my point. I make lots of videos of me chasing the capper in T:V and you say all i do is duel. Which is why i said TV is team deathmatch. So really... thanks for proving my point.
What i find funny is the players posting in the T:V forums these days. The game has long since been dead and now the noobs come out of hiding and takeover like cockroaches.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be posting your bullshit all over the forums if the TV community were actually still posting here.

It's most likely that they went with the unreal engine over torque because that what they built global agenda on. Why would they go to all the trouble of using a new engine and have to worry about hiring/training all new people to work on it?

That being said, T:V is a bit more than deathmatch. Doesn't matter how good a teams accuracy or dueling abilities are, 9/10 they'll loose in a game of ctf to a team that has better awareness and communication. You can easily have a team full of noobs and still compete if you have a dedicated farmer and two solid heavies.

People from dynamix did an interview explaining that they where planning on creating a new game that was basically like a more action packed and simplified version of t2, except on a different engine. The goal was to have a place where people could just go in a pub and have a fun game of light hearted ctf without having to wait on their entire clan to make things efficient. They went under and vivendi bought what work they had on that concept (probably the alpha).

T:V doesn't have as many attributed mechanics and doesn't keep with theme as well as any of the tribes games (including ascend), but it never was suppose to and it really doesn't even need to. It's its own animal. That's not something that should prevent it from being considered fun. That's actually what attracted a lot of people to the tribes series in the first place.

If vivendi wouldn't have been sellouts by writing it off to focus on some cheesy mmorpg, it really boggles my mind how huge that game could have became.

Terrible business decision.
... that game doesn't even have jetpacks... ..

also they didn't merge with blizzard/activision until 2007. In 2003 however they lost 23.3 billion. I thought they had some other mmorpg that they shifted efforts to, but they may have just dropped support because they were freaking terrible at business till they got bought out by GE.

Right, so they coincidentally chose the same engine as T:V, and coincidentally chose to implement the same skiing as T:V.

At this point, you can either admit to the truth and stick with it like a man, or you can continue rambling about how t2 is better than tv when it really is not .

I never really watched any of your videos, I usually ended up closing them after the first few seconds because of how terrible they were.

Plus, I prefer to watch T:V ma videos with legit footage that was not shot with the assistance of an aimbot.

But anyway, whenever I see you in game, all you do is duel.

And by duel I don't mean fucking chasing the flag carrier, because that's not dueling.

Again, by your illogical standards, I will say that a t2 chaser is also dueling the flag carrier when they chase them.

Fuck, you're dumber than I thought you were

Aint you about the dumbest bitch in here, reading comprehension isn't your strong suit. Now go back and reread my posts, where did I ever compare TV and T2, or where did I ever say that they are trying to make the game like T2? Your the one that wants to claim that they are making it like TV and doing the comparing.
Read this slowly so maybe you understand, The physics of Tribes Ascend isn't anything like any of the previous versions of Tribes. They are doing their own thing. They are not trying to do a reskin of Tribes, T2, or TV.

Are you that thick headed you cant see that the reason they choose the unreal engine is because their first game (global agenda) uses it, thanks whoever posted that.

It must really cook your goose that TV was a failure from the get go, yet old and busted tribes and tribes2 just keep on a trucking. Was TV your first video game? Why do you so blindly defend it?

For the record, even if TV had never existed they still would have used that skiing style. You obviously can't "carve" realistically when your jumping like in T2.

Bitch are you retarded? I'm not the one refuting that TV ISN'T team deathmatch. You are. Now you go and get your own argument all confused with mine, how sad.

So i'll make it so much more simple for you and break it down. I NEVER said chasing in Vengeance WASN'T team deathmatch. In fact, i said the opposite. So you quoting me like that makes absolutely no sense, it's as if you think my stance is the same as yours (TVchasing=not dueling).

Geez, get your story straight man. You sound more like a moron every single little drivel of a post you spam. Not to mention you have no comeback for Krash but a picture. But oh wait... pictures say a thousand words right?

In your case, all they do is spam "I'm a retard" over and over again.

BTW.... nice try leaving out parts of my post in your quote to make it appeal to your argument. Obviously the last part where i said "and you say all i do is i duel" is a significant segment of the post and you leave it out to confuse anyone. Nice try dick.

As an afterthought... maybe you quoted me because that line sounded like sarcasm. Here's to clear up the issue.... it's not. Your head is still stuck too far up your ass in defending Tribes Vengeance that you fail to see any other persons way but your own.

At this point you might as well give up Warrior
You know you're on your last legs when your comeback is altering someone's post and then spamming a picture of George W. Bush
i know this argument is becoming too overwhelming for you to mentally grasp Mak, but let me try and break things down for you in sequence:

I've stated this before you even came here.

Even the voice animations are so goofy and inspired that you can't help but giggle at such perfect execution.

LOL what does this have to do with gameplay? But ok, you're wrong here too, the T:V qchat voice actors were much better.

I'm going to have to call you out on this one.

The animations in T:V are terrible compared to T1 and T2 (also even UT). Audible wise, the voice chats in T:V are pretty good and it has a lot more options and better interface placement than T1 and T2, but the animations themselves are incredibly lame. The animations don't very from voice to voice and they do that lame salute for 10 different things. Also, if you move they don't work, even the wave/salute.

This has a ton to do with gameplay, it's called user experience(UX) and should be a well thought out and executed part of the game. UX is visible in literally everything that good designers produce. You can see it in everything from the box that apple products come in to the "wooda wooda" sound that the spinfusor makes in every other version of tribes outside of T:V. Ignoring the users ability to visually communicate with other players in-game and half-assing something as simple and small as character animations is just a sign of bad and rushed design.
