Can we have a vote with all the TWL JKO people here about whether to use version 1.02, or 1.03?
where have u been? this is a old topic
I just haven't been playing 1.03, and I stayed with 1.02 for a while until I couldn't take the crap with the servers. I would join, and there would be an error... It was time to upgrade. Then I found out how horrible it really was. When in a Star Wars movie does it take ten solid hits from a lightsaber to kill a person. Darth Maul died in one hit... guess he wasn't really that tough.

So, this conversation is dead? Then what is the final verdict?
maybe Darth Maul died in one hit but it took more than only one slash for Obi-Wan to kill him .. the fight was long and that's why Raven is trying to do .. long good and pleasant fight ..

1.03 is really good for saber and put saber fight more fun .. no more one hit kill
Saber fighting has been destroyed. To quote Crucible, "We now look nothing more like mauradic ravers with oversize glow sticks" There is no more sense of danger involved. The people who complained how sabering WAS were n00bs. they did not take the time to learn the weakness's of the moves they thought were 'too powerful'. Many a time have good medium users DESTROYED heavy users. You just have to know how. But the n00bs complained, and got their way, Raven catered to the n00bs. I'm sorry to say, but it's true. If you think there was something wrong with the dueling before, then you did not really learn the skill of the game.
Bah the last version wasnt bad .. i cant say that but the only problem was the DFA abusing .. yes it can be countered and it isnt so hard to do but it was like no more fun to have a duel. Everyone was doing this.

anyway i could live without patch and i will live with the new one ... cause there will be whinner for every patch that Raven will put for this game ... we are all doomed ...
Not everybody was doing it. Medium users were emerging on all the servers I played on, because of the heavy stances vulnerabilities. The SofD clan server was about 50% red, 50% yellow...and not all the red users used DFA (about 30% did..all the drunken's, which I must say, switched to medium on their own free will). So DFA abusing was diminishing on older more recognized servers.
how in the hell can u compare a movie to a vidio game? darh maul got killed in one hit woopie. "its a movie" this is a game.if we all went around hacking everyone in one hit how much fun could it be?
My mistake comparing the Star Wars universe to the Star Wars universe
I had alot of fun getting one hit kills now the game sucks and I think their are alot more that agree with me than don't
If U want boring, dull, pointless 1 hit kill games go play something a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.........Unreal Tournament. U can still get 1 kills, newbies just can't do it anymore.

lol hmm, so you're calling people who can't 1 hit kill newbies? So, you're a supporter of the backstab/back sweep? I have to admit, I use the backstab and backsweep from time to time because it gives 1 hit kills. I believe what he meant was the sense of immediate danger is GONE in 1.03, with the DFA crippled, people found a new exploited move, and combined with this lowered sense of danger (won't get killed in 1 shot unless backstabbed back..) people are more aggressive and run into you backwards hoping to get that sweep out. Although it may seem cheap, it is the fastest way to end a duel now. If saber damage was returned to what it used to be, where your opponent could possibly be using heavy and if he hits you ONCE you lose 100 hp, people would more more cautious wih the backstab/sweep since if they get too close with their backs to you you can just pull off a heavy swing before they can get a backstab off.
Would you like some cheese with that wine?

OK to validate, many of us enjoyed the gameplay as it was. I didn't have a problem with one hit kills in 1.02 as most of the stuff was easily avoided. What I do have a problem with in 1.03 is taking 10 minutes (generalization) to get a kill and half my hits bouncing off their sabre.

Go ahead and attack me without making any valid points, call it whining or what you will, it's my opinion and it's there. If you want to disagree go ahead but don't tell me to go play another game because I already am playing ANOTHER game when I patched to 1.03.

edit: PS running around backstabbing everyone isn't exactly what I think most people consider fun lol. I'd rather get killed by a lucky noob now and then then have a bunch of skilled guys doing the same dopey move over and over.

I'll ask u the same question that I asked beggar that he never answered, if Raven waited a month or to release the game and the settings and adjustments in 1.3 were included in the very original, would you be complaining if you never knew the difference? I think 1.3 is fantastic. Of course you're going to have many lame people who are interested only in getting kills by pullng u and back stab/slash you constantly, you'll always find a group of people that are like that under any circumtances. The point is to find away to counter-act it. I play on Nf servers mostly, so it's not really a problem for me. Ok so you don't like duels taking 10 minutes, thats fine, I know where ur coming from, but if U get the hang of it, and the person isnt constantly running away from u, it can be over very quickly. And if ur on a FF server and someone runs away and heals, PULL HIM! or drain him! Or hell even to a lesser extent use speed and quick stance and just whirlwind around the cheap fool! The point is, refer to newton's 3rd law of physics. "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." Just make sure ur reaction is the right one.

Delayed response, anyhow I can't answer that question because I did play 1.2 and its hard to determine what I would have thought of 1.3 on its own. Ofcourse I have to deal with the patch as I don't have a big choice there.

That doesn't mean I have to be happy about it. To their credit they did fix some bugs but they changed entirely too much. Changing gameplay can really hurt a community of gamers especially early on. Kill the game no...but I guarantee alot more people would still have a hardon for this game if they hadn't changed so much.

As far as the topic I am not in favor of splitting the community farther by going with multiple versions of the game, I'm patient and can wait till Raven figures out they lost a large amount of interest in the game. So infact I am probably more upset about the patch because of the hit on the community itself moreso than any personal issues with gameplay. Though I have those as well.

There is a poll on one of the major JK2 websites asking what people think of the new patch. Only about 22% actually favor it or think it's ok as is. Close to 50% think it needs tweaking with another 20% not liking it. The last 10% think they changed too much. So when 78% percent of your fan base doesn't think you got it right you might have done something wrong. Hopefully Raven gets the message and releases another patch. I'm patient and can wait.

to answer Mace's question, which I never saw (was the question implied in that wine and cheese comment?),

If Raven waited a couple more months, it would NOT come out as 1.03 first of all. MOST of the updates from 1.03 were implicated due to complaints of 1.02. But as was agreed upon everyone in jediknightii.net, the people who had no problems with 1.02 were playing the game rather than on the boards complaining, thus Raven's 'player' community was basically the people who did not enjoy it as much and went to complain.

Next, IF Raven came out with 1.03 first, however they did or however you justify that, I will bet you that some (if not most) reviews will not have held JK2 in such high regard. Most players would be complaining about the little damage that the sabers do, and other players will ask for more ammunition, if 1.03 came out FIRST, I would believe that 1.02 WOULD have been the upgrade. Almost a backwards effect.

You can love 1.03 as much as you want, and if you want pull/backstab or even just backstab nerfed so that YOU do not die from it, go ahead and complain.

Next patch if they nerf it to cater to YOU, there will be other exploits found, and yet again you will want that NERFED. And when that is nerfed there will be another and another.

Not everyone plays the way YOU do. The fact of the matter is not to ask Raven to cripple those opponents who you die from, but rather to touch up on your own skills and cripple those opponents yourself. If people keep complaining to Raven about things they cannot beat or things they cannot do, then this game will eventually turn into a one move saber hack and slash where everyone HAS to use the same move. Raven tried to give the community more variety with the light saber, you're asking for less. If you want less, go back to JK1, and play there.

oh and Just to add Mace Windu, there is no such thing as Newton's 3rd Law of Physics. Newton has many laws relating to physics, including applications to thermodynamics and relativity. I believe you are trying to say Newton's 3rd Law of Motion.
This is my stand point, 1.03 happened, like it or not (I do not..) But you gotta live with it. The game is not completely destroyed as some say, and there still is a sense of balance in the game. Just play the game, and find your way around those 1 hit kills and find counters for it. As Mace Windu said himself, although incorrectly referenced, "For Every action there is an equal and opposite reaction". Therefore Mace should not be complaining. Those 1 hit kills do have counters and are avoidable. Practice against it and see that it is not that hard to defend against and then you will be more skilled and get more kills. Just think about it, if everyone figured out how to counter backstab or sweep, and win most of the time, backstabbers will diminish, and the game will be equated on its OWN, WITHOUT the help of Raven. It's all up to the community.
Until it's patched to a decent game again, my team collectivly decided to drop from the ladder. Simply put, 1.03 just isn't fun. Raven had a gem on their hands, they flawed it to cater to newbies.

To put into better terms... Raven had a very shiny diamond. But idiots high up said "It's too shiny. Make it dull so were not blinded anymore then we already are."
What I don't understand is how they can stop the heavy jump attack from swinging arounds, but not the backstab...
Therefore, there is no counter to the backstab unless one tries a 1 kill of their own... then it's just the two people circling
and the winner is the one who gets the 1 hit kill at the end.

After three days of playing 1.03 off and on, the most kills I have made is with the backstab... very few with normal shots.
As for a solution... perhaps a move like this should drain 3/4 of the force pool or something... That way, people don't use
it all the time.
this thread has been beaten to the ground, its an old topic. its done
