FK Saberist PUG

Tonight at 8pm EST we'll be hosting a PUG for FF/SO CTF and TFFA. If you're interested be in our IRC channel by 7 so we can hash out the password and whether or not you get in. Confirmed 8-10 people for it right now atleast, so that's 6-8 slots open.

FF/SO CTF is the lamest pull/push whoring ever. The only thing anybody does is pull kick.

all you have to do is ignore the grip kickers(maybe slap on some absorb) and walk/run away
as long as you don't stop and fight the person that's on the other team (which is a complete waste of time), it's ok
i've played a couple and they are more like practises without guns, like trying to beat your best time
just thinking about a sabersit trying to catch up and kill a flag runner is a little ridiculous

Please, none of you have played a serious sabers CTF match. The pug went good, 14 players showed. Anytime you think your gun clans could take FK in a saber only ctf match, we'd be more than happy to shut you out and cap 20 on you.

No pickups IE bacta, health or shields either.

wt f is this bs we all know it's very easy to go from a saber to a gun cuz even if u suck u just have to press the mouse button and hope u might hit or like with golan just throw them on the ground and the guy is bound to hit one but going from guns to sabers is harder cuz u have to do all that pull/push shit plus kick and all those saber hitting shit.

The -only- reason you'd do well against a gun team in s/o ctf is because it's simple as fuck to avoid a saber slash comming at you. Hell you can ROLL away from saber attacks without much difficulty. If you're good offense you know how to avoid pulls as well, so the game would be a 20 minute stand off, there might be ONE cap if someone screws up. I'm sorry but it seems silly to make a gametype that was meant to be fast paced, slow.

Oh and just a couple other points, I NEVER said you didn't play guns. I said it's the same thing as me challenging you to guns. It's playing one team at a disadvantage due to weapons.

yeah and you try to get past Savant (=X=IdiotSavant) when he's on defense.

That one guy and his kicks alone are more lethal than most 4-5 man teams.

Look I know there are some damn skilled gunners, and I know they can do crap that I would have to probably spend weeks if not months practicing to pull off.

But the same goes for sabers.

You guys don't use them (other than defense) and although you use force it's mainly for support/defense/assisting.

When we use force it's our primary form of attack (because sabers are kind of shitty) and there are offensive/defensive force combos that chances are you guys have never seen.

Like you said, you do have to get close and trust me on this, getting in close and killing a flag carrier when he has two guys team healing his ass is a hell of a lot harder than just spamming lob repeater shots/rockets into a crowd of people.


Our fc's run and cap just as fast/smart as yours so pull whoring is pretty much only effective on noob teams.

To take a good fc out in so/ctf you have to earn that kill like a motherfucker and a good fc will almost never be killed by a random swing/kick from a lesser player.

and a kill in guns isn't earned? You say lob a repeater shot, but tell me man, can you predict and time a repeater shot from the flag post all the way to the rocket corner? It's in NO way easy to do. Like I said dude, I don't have a problem with anyone, but what goes around comes around. I see my guns being insulted and i'm gonna come right back with it.

I know using a saber effectively takes skill just like guns do. But you guys TOTALLY minimize guns without even trying them, I was a saberist for a long time in jk2 I found alot more difficulty becoming good with guns than I did with learning to saber. And dude, i'm not offense but even I got past div3rse guys and other saberist d, without having to shoot them.

If you're good you can avoid pulls and pullkicks in general. I've found it much harder to cap/defend with guns. To cap on guns you have to worry about defense being able to get a shot on you at all times, it's alot harder to avoid D and regen your force. In sabers, I can just roll to different levels, or sucker them into comming to another level and drop down to the flag. I'm sure there are good saber d out there, but I still think it's silly for ctf but thats my opinion.

Every clan who has played CTF has used pulling as a means to stop a capper or otherwise. BF is singled out because DSbr labeled them that way. In fact, every clan has used pull-whoring as a tactic. Pull is just a generally gay force power...However, it is very much a fact that saberists use it more than most people do.

well.. let me say this... i DID use a saber in competition... hell.. my clan held the #2 spot on FF TFFA... so i know what im talking bout when i talk about sabers... i am a gunner.. dont even try and use sabers anymore.. CAUSE ITS TOO EASY!!!! it takes mabye.. MABYE 1 week to be able to complete with you "top" saberists... it takes MONTHS to get as good as he gunners. not because there is a learning curve either.. its because of the skill required.

and yes, i have seen the best of both sides and played them as well. sabers take far less skill than guns

I resent this comment, . I don't play the game to spam, I actually have really good accuracy, and I try to play sabres as well. I'm not very good at sabres at the moment (decent), and I tried s/o CTF. I don't like s/o CTF because it does a lot larger of a number on my FPS than Guns CTF does. Since Raven is gay and screwed Sabres (IMO), pull and kick is pretty much essential to even try and kill someone. Pull is a definate need, I doubt anybody could do anything in s/o CTF without pull. This wouldn't be so large of a problem for me, as I realize you'll need to pull in order to even kill someone, but 3v3 Guns is bad enough for my FPS, now imagine some 5v5 s/o CTF game where everyone needs to constantly pull to do what is intended.

My CPU crashed several times when I last played s/o CTF.
