Mini-Review:
Firstly, the visuals in all the maps are great, lots of detail and eyecandy, unfortunately many of these details get in the way of the game flow, breaking up bunny-hops etc.
Now to the specific maps:
Bespin Streets by Jesterspaz: Nice layout, good size, nice visuals. However you will be killed very quickly if you run out of force due to the very open layout. The Rocket Launcher doesn't have any ammo nearby so you will generally be limited to 3 shots. Additionally the level is a straight line, a rage run will have you at the enemy base and back in no time at all.
Using my harsh review scale I give it a 7
Artus Geothermal by Takimoto: Again nice visuals but poor layout. There is literally only a few metres between the flag and both routes are far too fast. There is only one entrance to the flag rooms, so you are pretty vulnerable as a flag carrier, very few spaces to recharge.
I give it a 5
Wired Up by Dubbilan: Drop dead gorgeous use of shaders. Very claustrophobic in-between bases, there are 2 rocket packs with the rocket launcher, which I feel is far too many for a map this intense. Also the flag platforms are elevated in the centre of the enemy base and you need force jump or the jumppads to reach them, I can see this becoming a very dull pull-whore map.
I give it a 6
Imperial Installation by Expandable: Good size, adequate visuals, good choice of routes. Let down by poor sniper spots (the sniper rifle is in a tiny room with a small sniper window). The mines are in sets of two, so you get 6 trip-mines at a time, I'm not sure if this is good or bad yet.
I give it a 7
These are all just preliminary scores, based on my first thoughts. I may ammend them a bit after playing them online a bit.
Feel free to post your own thoughts and reviews.
