HELP WITH REMOVING SERVER PASSWORD

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2002-07-23 · 13 posts
after locking a server for a war i find myself unable to remove the password.

i tried g_needpass 0 and i get the message that "g_needpass 0 is read only"

thus i cannot remove it

and i tried g_password "" but all that does is tell me the currently password.

someone able to help me remove the password?
Once our server got borked and couldn't be unpassworded, and it just required a reset to fix. To kill it from within the game type /rcon quit.
ok

so when i do /rcon quit it should fix it?

but wouldn't it reload the server configuration files therefore the g_needpass 1 is still there?

and btw i tried /killserver but that didn't work either, thats why im notsure if /rcon quit will help
try deleting the jk2mp.cfg or whatever that autogenerated file is...
thing is i don't have full access to the server

only rcon

but shouldn't there be a way to remove the pass?

how do ppl do it after they add a password? e.g. GameArena in which i have emailed them but no reply
i set sv_privateclients to the maxplayers of the server so every client is private and use sv_privatepassword to avoid this problem

try a seta g_password "" via rcon...
I use "\rcon g_password none".
thats not it at all ....

//this sets your password
g_password "yourpassword"

//set this to 1=need pass or 0=no pass
g_needpass "0"

as i said i did try g_needpass 0

but i get the message saying that command is read only therefore not changing it
I have been running a server for awhile.. And to remove the pw I use "\rcon g_password none" and it auto sets everything just fine for me. I use the same command to set the password too. Have you tried this yet? I found it when Raven first released the software on their site relating to server setup. Of course \rcon requires that you have the rcon password!
reset g_password works if you haven't put a different pass in without resetting it

Believe it or not, I'm 90% certain the following RCON commands work:
seta g_password none
seta g_needPassword 0

You cannot set it to "". And setting it to "none" gives the desired effect.
