Hey..Some questions...maybe you guyz can help out..
I have a Geforce4 Ti4800. I am trying to overclock it or atleast make it have better FPS on t2[ I average around 50-70 depending on server]. I recently acquired a overcloking utility that allows settings to be changed[duh]
My question is-
It asks me if I want it to be faster or have better quality..which would give me a better fps or funner T2 Experience?
Thanx Craz

faster = more fps
better quality = nicer images / prettier, at expense of fps

I thought someone was sending you a new card? I've got the GeForce2 MX400 64MB DDR...I thought you had the same lol

i have a gf3 tiwhoknows, but I usually get 100-110 FPS on most servers. The thing that I did was turn a lot of my texture settings down. I have NO SKY. My game looks pretty good too...you might want to try playing with your settings a little. Also, of course make sure you're not running any other programs while you're running t2 (ie., kazaa, icq, etc., etc.). I wouldn't imagine you should encounter bad FPS if it isn't for some ambient source.
Yea..it says it right in the manuel..turninbg down the textures and graphics increases the FPS

Crazy8,

I use a Geforce3 and get 45-65 fps with all settings at maximum at a resolution of 1280x1024. Your video card is a lot better than mine. So, you should be getting a lot better fps than what you're getting with everything turned up. That leads me to believe that you are being bottlenecked somewhere other than your video card.
Thats what I was thinking. But I dunno. My Gf2 is pretty close to what he's got LoL

My Geforce2 TI Gets 10 - 20 FPS in a vulcan battle 5- 12
I've got everything on max (1600x1200) and i get 40-90fps in most area's, however my comp owns.

About OCing, yes a geforce 2 is overclockable, however i do not know how much. I would say no more than 5-10% increase in RAM/CPU settings, espescially if you have the box fan.

Moreover, you can OC just about everything in your computer, but it is not the best thing to do if you don't know how to do it. As morbid said, just turn down some settings and your fine.

First of all, are you running on a dell computer or whatever, or did you build it yourself. This is important because if you built your own it's alot easier to OC.

Crazy8, I agree with Morbid. I have a Geforce3 and get about as good FPS as you do, but I run at 1170x960 (can't remember the exact resolution, it's the one between 1024x768 and 1280x1024). I turned off precipitation, and have no music, and I turned down the sky like Morbid did.

If you want to know which textures and graphics in T2 really affect your FPS, the best source is the following article:

Tribes 2 Graphics Tweak Guide <--VERY GOOD ARTICLE!

try that place out it's very good if you go through all the stuff for gamers like system tweak and ram tweak and the other stuff it'll max your game (and computer) out on performance... It is well worth the time of reading and doing all that stuff.... Also their forums are full of very very good people that can help you with almost any problem.

omni has a geforce4 ti4800 (second edition) and gets like 120-130 fps with max graphics. although now he's dropped some cause he set it at some ultra high res because he's omni. anyways i'd have to agree with silicon that your bottlenecking. either that or there must have been a fuck up big time on the orig. 4800 but i seriously doubt it.
If you're going to overclock your vid card...don't do it for T2, especially for FPS...

I get 150-200 FPS, I used to get 40-50, I can't even tell the difference.

Once you get above 30 you're fine...

Kewl, thanks for that Cream Cheese. But Might I need to overclock it just a little if I get 10-20 fps?
Bagel is bullshitting his way through this thread...he has no clue wtf he's talking about.
