The limited edition Halo 2 will contain a free 2 month trial of XBL. Although you will most likely not have voice capabilities unless you have a communicator and an adapter, it will be fun to just try it out. Plus headsets on their own are like 20$ as opposed to buying the starter kit which runs 40 or 60. So don't fret over getting your XBL account up, because you will get a free one with the limited edition. As for the regular edition, I'm not quite sure.
Screw the crappy Headset (that breaks easily) that you get with the Starter Kit.... Check this BAD BOY out! It's a little expensive, but I will get this as soon as it comes out!!!

Yeah, the "Halo 2" Mics SUCK! Look at the reviews... they show they are:

1) Very Uncomfortable
2) Lousy Speaker
3) Lousy Mic

Actually for comp play I think Using Vent would be the best anwser. From what I hear they have a thing called Prox voice where even the enemy can hear you talking if you're close.

Nope... you heard "kinda" right. There will be 3 types of verbal communications:

1) Team Only (those on your "authorized" team can hear you)
2) Proxy Chat (those near you can hear you only)
3) Global Chat (everyone & their pets can hear you)

I do not know how you would toggle between the 3, but it's not something that does it automatically. Just wanted to clarify since most people wouldn't want to run VENT & have XBox Live!

Ya it was something I saw on an old making of halo vid but the way you said it is mabye it's a game type setup option or if it's something you can do by toggling from your own box (WAY BETTER).
You can change the chat feature by pressing the white button. Or so I have been told.

THEN WHAT BUTTON IS TO TURN ON THE FLASHLIGHT! I NEED A FLASHLIGHT IN THOSE DARK PLACES!
I asked same thing, no flashlight in mp.

ill lend you my maglite, but you need 1 hand to hold it, i dunno if you want it. But the offer is on the table. Ill inclucde 2 D-cell batteries. Only $10.95!
snake light > maglite
Being able to change chat features > Flashlight
After 6hrs of play with that headset then what? How do you charge it, like a mouse cradle? If its not a inline battery I can buy at the store it might piss me off to wait for that thing to charge. Usually wireless things are heavy but it does look cool.
