TWL encourages ALL teams to run a server log.

If you don't know how, its very simple.

Download your init.txt. file from your server, and add the following line to it:

sv_log_enabled 1

Once your server is started, a log named haloserver.log will be created in the HaloCE folder that holds all of your custom gametypes. The default location for this is My Documents/My Games/HaloCE, but this could be different depending on how your Halo Server hosting company sets it up.

By running a log, it does the following things:

1) Records IPs, so that if you suspect someone of ringing or using players that aren't on their roster, this will prove it.
2) Records chat, so that if a team is showing unsportsmanlike conduct, this can also be proven.

With the recent uprising of banned players ringing for other teams, we want everyone to get the fair games they deserve.

*WARNING* - If your team is caught using a ringer, you will not only be removed from all ladders and leagues, but the team will be removed from TWL, and all members involved will get a minimum of 3 months in Site Ban, Forum Ban, and Suspension. Don't jeapordize all your teams' hard work and record to make a match happen or take down a better team. Reschedule it...
We don't have full ftp access, only to upload custom maps.

boo
You dont have access to the init.txt file that determines server settings?
Aparently the banning of 'rk is a testiment to the usefulness of these logs, yet another reason that running a log is a good idea. Now, purely hypothetical, but let's say that clan A wrings a guy from clan B. What are the consiquences for clan B?
all i have access to is the maps, nothing else, not even the init motd or gametypes.
*cough*time for a new host*cough*

Same consequences for the players from Team B. Not the whole team, just the smurfing player.
FYI for anyone using the server log, keep in mind you should set the threshold (how large the server log file can become before rotating to a new one). This should take a load off some servers that over time, as the log file builds, can be overworked and hence slows gameplay down and increases instability. I believe the default threshold is about 4 meg, so i would set it to something significantly less.

The command looks like this:

sv_log_rotation_threshold [enter a number here]

the number will determine max file size of the server logfile before it creates a new one. also, this number is understood to be in kilobytes.
