Who thinks the rule about skins should be changed to only player skins

I was talking with V3ndetta about this and he said he'd make a topic about it but hes too lazy :P

It seems to me that the only skins in the past that were causing any hacking problems were the PLAYER models and not the WEAPON models. Maybe some of you guys like your games bland and boring but I like to customize everything I possibly can in everything. My car, my clans forum, my computer and every program on it, ect. I can live with default PLAYER models but I feel having to have default weapon models TOO is ludacris and is un-needed
Make 2 CS directories. Make one shortcut launch your customized CS for pubs/scrims/other league matches. Then use the original dir for TWL. Then, everyone plays fairly with the same models and you can be happy playing everywhere else.
The problem with allowing custom models of any type is deciding what's legal and what's not. It would be nearly impossible for an Admin to check out and make a decision on everyone's models. It's easier and a better guarentee of fairness if TWL allows only the models packaged with the game.

that may be easy for your but unfortunatly for me i don't have a 100 gig HD nor do i have an 80 or 60 nope not even a 20 i have an 11. I am a heavy designer and i run my own company... online mind you. So unfortunatly i can't make two directories.

Spyder i agree with you to a certain point. How in hell do you get an advantage from weapon skins. I could see if you use the p_models MAYBE but most servers won't allow anything but the default player models anyway. However if people use CHARACTER/PLAYER models thats where there is an advantage coming in.
I'm not saying that any advantage is to be gained with a weapon skin. What I'm saying is that there are people out there that would find a way to take advantage if TWL started to allow custom skins. It would just be easier on the admins if it were restricted to just the packaged models. If Vandetta chimes in on this thread and says that he's willing to handle the responsibility that will come with allowing customs, then I'll retract my entire statement.
On a more opinionated level, if your to the point where you have a problem with playing the game the way it was packaged, then your playing this game -way- too much.

Twl is for the players, not the admen’s. I became an admin to help out the CS community in some small way. Yes enforcing new rules might be challenging, but that’s why I’m here. In the last couple of weeks I have received several emails asking me about weapon models and their legality in Twl game play. Personally I see no harm in using the custom weapon models and if the community is pushing to have them legal, I well am the last one that well stops that from happening. Like what Survivr posted earlier “How in hell do you get an advantage from weapon skins”. I have explored weapon models somewhat my self and I have found no advantage gained by using them, with the exception of one thing, added enjoyment. On the other hand I’m completely against having other then default player models legal, due to the easily conceivable advantage gained by using them. Personally I don’t feel like I, an admin should make the design on matters like this, nor do I want to for the simple reason that I want what the community wants not just what I want. So simply put if you guys want to vote in personal weapon models into the CS TWL then I well help the community to do so. Please continue to post your comments on this matter; no matter what way you swing, I would like to hear both sides of the coin. And no I’m not lazy, heh just busy.

The problem with custom weapon models is that some of the adjust the looks of the crosshairs as well. Or they make some weapons smaller on the screen. The only real problem is with the crosshairs. I have seen some that add back the unzoomed crosshair for sniper rifles. This is the only place where custom models really can give an advantage. But if custom models what don't affect crosshairs are going to be allowed, then make r_drawviewmodels 0 legal as well. (for those of you who dont know, r_drawviewmodels 0 turns off the gun models on the screen).
well, Vandetta has spoken. I retract my statement.
Xhairs are sprites bro...

they are changed from the sprite files not the models themselves...
and acctually models being smaller on the screen i havent seen. All of my custom models are bigger than the original ones with the exception of one gun... the ump and never use it anyways
and why would you not want to have the gun models on the screen in the first place... thats kinda... stupid.

And besides that could be considered a cheat in the fact that it gives you an added FOV so no i do not think that is legal

It's not a cheat, it helps to improve FPS on some computers, and personally I like having it off, you can just concentrate on your recoil handling and stuff more without having the 'fake recoil' from the gun model. It's just something you got used to (I used it before I had a real decent video card... come to think of it, my computer still sucks but that's a different story) and it's really just a matter of personal prefrence.

ok well, then i wont use r_drawviewmodels 0, i will just create models that are blank and use those . If weapons models are going to be allowed you cant be descriminatory.
rgr that

i vote for allowed weapon models
detta is this enough to get the rule changed?
i think custom weapon models should be legal for clan matches and so forth.
i belive custom weapon modoles should be allowed becuase they dont improve anything they just make the gun look better
so how many will it take for the rules to be changed?
thats what i was beginning to wonder
well we obviously dont have enough yet...
weeeeeeeeeeeee

Sorry guys this would have been updated earlier but I have been gone for a week or so and since then I have been backlogged with all the e-mails that I have had to read through from TWL members.

The Twl Counter Strike community has spoken, and thanks to all of u that posted on this forum about the use of custom weapon skins. I have updated the rules to allow the use of such skins in all Twl matches both CS 2v2 and CS Open. The rules regarding skins has been updated to this –

All team members must use default player models, any player using enhanced/colored player models/skins will result in a forfeit loss for their team as well as the probability of further disciplinary action. This includes hostage skins as well.

Custom weapon skins are legal in matches, and are encouraged, because the use of weapon skins can give added enjoyment to the game, and give no real advantage to those that use them. This does not include sprite files; players must use the default ones.
