I'm not one to complain but I just thought I'd throw this out to see if anyone else feels the same way. I'm not here to stir things up and sure people will disagree, but here it goes.
I gotta tell ya, I'm really dissapointed in the map choices TWL and CAL are making.(mostly CAL because TWL follows the lead) All the maps are remakes of overplayed old school games. Granted they probably use them because they play well and have stood the test of time. The Bridge is a cool map but the one used in TWL(sdver) is the crappiest looking map I've played. Inferno and Mill are 16-bit Sega Genesis lookin maps that play well but look friggin rediculous in COD. I play COD because of it's graphics along side of it's great gameplay. I don't want to play maps that have been around longer than my grandmas chin hair. There's an assload of customs out there, why pick maps that look like a 10 year old ported them over. I understand how important it is for maps to play out well in SD, but come on. If I wanted to play CS maps....I would go play CS. Those maps have boxes at every friggin corner, why? because you can shoot through them in CS. When was the last time you shot through a box in COD?
My point is, custom maps are being brought in to freshin things up a bit, which is great but why use old maps if that's the case? I'm willing to bet that almost every team has a player on it that already has spot on strats for those 3 maps. What's so exciting about that?
Solution, maybe have a poll running for next seasons maps. Have everyone throw in some ideas in a thread and take those into a poll. I seen a post over at IWnation where CAL is actively lookin for maps but I'm not sure what kind of progress they are making.
