Question regarding TAM

I've been playing a bit of this lately... no doubt LcD will mirgate to that as well. (We do TDM currently). But someone PLEASE tell me what prevents a campfest? I see no reason what-so-ever to be aggressive.

Also, TAM needs to work w/ UTComp. Right now it's trying to do all the good things UTComp does (warm-up, b-skins, h-sounds, etc) and not doing them as well. TAM should just do the TAM bit and leave the extras to UTComp. Currently the two negate each other in a humptastic splouge fest.
Not sure if this belongs here, but i dont' want to start up a new thread.

We just had a TAM match, in which one of our players' weapons didn't work for 2 rounds. I think is a known bug, i've seen people on pubs complain about it. We were outclassed anyways, so it didn't really matter, but i can see it being a big problem if it happens during a close match.

How do you arrange team and warm up in TAM? Anti-TCC is still checking long after the clock says "OMFG". Honestly, TAM is no where near ready for comp play.
The way we did it was we loaded the map up regular, so people could just start playing or whatever. When the match was about to start, we reloaded the map with the "Players must be ready" option.

Another annoyance with TAM are the spawn points. When we played Antalus, for the first 5 or 6 rounds, we didn't spawn by the lightning gun at all, and the other team seemed to keep spawning there. We spawned up there near the end of the match a couple of times, but i guess i didn't get the impression of random spawn points.

It's still lots of fun though

Ive been off UT2K4 for about a couple months now. What exactly is TAM and whats the technique for it? Thx
Yeah Spawns need a lot of work. We played a bit more last night and we Spawned near the Lit at Grendel 100%. Free win for that map.

Shame on you for dropping UT2004.

TAM = essentially Last Man Standing, reloaded

Everything was fine until TWL started to consider it for a ladder. The spawn points were very random (although the teams where not close together). Everyone wanted this ladder up and now people are bitching about it! After forcing 50% FF on some of us, u guys still bitch, so just back off before u make it worse for those of us u liked it from the beggining and don't want anymore changes
You don't have to play it that way on pubs. Just like pub TDM isn't always played with 20 minute rounds, UTComp, 100% friendly fire, weapon stay off.

i was the one that started the ladder before i retired... so ponder this...

Do i listen to people bitch non-stop that they want a ladder? or do i put the ladder up and deal with the few people who seem to be complaining now? it was a pretty easy decision...

People will complain about whatever is decided just to complain.

Hopefully TWL's decision to support a TAM ladder will help the mod gain support in the community.

I think AIM did a good job with this mod. There may be some bugs still, but thats with most any software that comes out. The teams and players that play this mod will just have to recognize that for what it is and work around this until the bug is fixed.

Camping can be an occasional tactical strategy, but it won't win a match. Two reasons, one is the adrenaline bonuses for each kill, but the more important reason is the health reduction for each round won. If the leading team camps only, they'll run into overtime, where everyone's damage gets chipped away and they'll lose the round. After the thousands of hours of watching the gameplay, camping has not proven itself to be a winning tactic.

No, the two don't play well together. You're right. There are a few players (probably less than 5%) who have made comments that they prefer the UTComp brightskins, as certain specific maps still have a visibility advantage. We're looking at a fix for the next version, possibly allowing you to select the color of your opponents. (Green or blue, gold or red). Full integration with UTComp just happens to open up a can of worms, so we opted against in order to minimize the potential bugs.

Speaking of bugs, we are aware of the spawning with no weapons bug that happens on occasion when a player presses the fire button to respawn during the transition point to the next round. Until it is fixed in the next release, please refrain from clicking "fire" at the end of a round/beginning of the next round.

Thank you all for your feedback and patience.

Sweet, in no way did i mean to make u sound like the bad guy. I was just refering to the people that wanted the ladder, but wanted the rules changed that A!M had built in. Then they just wanted the ladder up and running, and now are complaining about it.
I think this has been answered enough.
