Map Selection

Sorry if this has been asked before but is it possible to make the 1v1 ladder a "best of 3" match?
oh sorry - I gave this post the subject line of something different I was wondering.

In addition to the above question, how is the map for a 1v1 selected? Random? My opponent says he didn't choose the selected map and I certainly did not.

Thanks.
I agree that in 1v1 match it should be 2 wins out of 3. You cant really judge by one game, by one map.
I kind of like the one map format. Especially since the last match I played ended 0-15. If there weren't so many inactive players on the ladder things would move fast enough.
but more specifically, what is the process to propose a change like this? Should I be putting this in another forum or is there a different process I should be following?

and I'm still wondering how the map is chosen for 1v1 play...

get support from people to change it... you get LOTS and i mean 30 or 40 people... to post saying you want it changed and it could be done i am sure...
ok. I'll try that with a dedicated thread and we'll see what happens.

And so Sweettooth, how is the 1v1 map chosen? I didn't see this stated in the rules.
To my knowledge, the map is randomly chosen from an established set of maps. Certainly this is not the only way it could be done. It could be a "challenger chooses map" system, similar to the way ProAsm's DuelMod works. I kind of like the random selection because it forces players to know all the maps, rather than just play the living crap out of one or two and always pick those maps.

As far as the one-map format, I like that as well because I only have to set aside 15-20 minutes of time for a duel match, rather than the 45-75 minutes that were required with best 2 of 3 systems such as PG's 1v1 ladder.

As far as proposing a change to the system, I suspect SweetTooth or one of the other admins will see this post sooner or later and may reply. He'll likely say that if he gets enough interest from the players on the 1v1 ladder he'll put it up for a vote. Alternately, you could E-mail the admins and get their input that way.

Edit: Heh... ST replied before I finished composing mine... too slow.

I kinda like the 1 map format, and I don't mind the random map generation either except for the fact that my last three friggin matches in a row ended up Antalus lol.

Can a different map be played if both parties agreed?

it would be funner and more intesting and competitive if you could choose 3 maps instead of having one random map
