CSS zBlock Update for CSS Ladders

In the recent zBlock update, there was an option to eliminate the bunny hopping from all matches on TeamWarfare League. After debate and community input we have decided that the Counter Strike: Source ladders shall be able to continue to use bunny hopping. In doing so, we are going to be launching a ladder with simular rules as the league that will have bunny hopping disabled for those team(s) that wish to play using the league cfg's. Also know that the crouch bug exploit that was disabled with the new zBlock shall remain disabled in all ladders.

These changes will become effective for all ladder(s) starting on October 26th 2009. All team(s) need to go to the download section by clicking on the following link: Download. We have updated all ladder cfg's so please ensure your servers are updated as well.

=D

For clarification this means zb_bunnyfix 0 and zb_crouchfix 1 although if you just download the updated files you'll be fine.
That sucks. I was really happy with the change to zb_bunnyfix 1...ohwell.
The way counter strike should be yay.
Yeah messing up the timing on maps, and letting people get super jump boost (like T's on Train) and beating you to the bombsite by 5 seconds, is AWESOME! (Not).
Casual counter strike players who don't want to spend the time practicing bunny hopping get put at a serious disadvantage here. For example, in a scrim, there has been a guy waiting behind the car at banana with an awp before the terrorists even got to the opening of banana, giving him superior position on us, because he could bunny hop and we haven't spent the time to learn how to do it well.

I think taking away bunny hopping would even the playing field in a good way. Bunny hopping is an unrealistic and annoying part of CS:S.
You basically just contradicted yourself!

CASUAL CS:S PLAYERS.... Then why do you play in a competitive league? Pubs and pugs are for casual CS:S players...
I would agree with Snizz.
Realistic? Is that a joke? So you are saying that realistically if you shot someone in the face with a shotty point blank and only do 99 damage and they don’t die, is that realistic? Lmao The word realistic and counter strike should never even be in the same paragraph much less used in context of b hopping.
Here is my take on it. I am a competitive player and I do know how to bunny hop. I put in the practice to learn how to do it. It takes time for sure but anyone can do it with some practice.
This is the deal the way I see it. You have players with several different play styles in this game. Some are better at nades, some are better at knifing, some are better with scouts so on so forth. Bunny hopping falls into this same category as the others do. So if you were to ban b hopping then you might has well start controlling who is better at certain weapons and so on. At the end of the day, it’s pretty ludicrous to think b hopping is an unfair way of playing. I say put the time in if it’s an issue with you. Don’t penalize someone because they are better at something than you are. Put the time in just like everyone else. If you say you don’t have the time then the extra time it takes you to argue the point on having hopping in TWL you could spend that time working on your b hopping techniques.
I say if you got shot by someone how b hopped his way to a place they got to before you, he might get you the first time but I would be adjusting my game accordingly.
Good point Captain, but lets not forget that TWL CS:S ladders are not just gun game related.

For those who don't play gun game, look at it like this. This game DOES shoot for realism, but don't forget, IT'S A GAME. You want real? Go postal with a deagle at a local burger king... lol, maybe that was wrong but you get my drift.

B hopping is a skill that people practice. I can just as easily turn around and say it isn't fair that people "practice strats". Just like people practice b hopping. If you feel SOOOO strongly about it, email Valve and find out if it was meant to be in the game or if it really is a glitch...
I don't know if you guys ever played Halo 2, but I would equate bunny hopping in CS:S to super jumping in Halo 2. Yeah, it is part of the game, and people can practice it to become really good at it, but it still seems like more of a glitch than an important part of competitive play.

The league already has rules about what you can and can't do on certain maps. For example, you can't silent plant or boost to where you can see over walls, etc. You could practice these, too, and become very good at them, but they are glitches and hence banned from competitive play.

I also stick by my statement that CS:S is going for some degree of realism -- certainly more realism than a game like Halo or Quake. There is a reason why they changed the game from CS 1.3 to CS 1.4 and made jumping SLOW YOU DOWN. In 1.3 you could jump around non-stop all the time, but the creators of the game decided that that was kind of stupid and ridiculous, and made it so you slow down after jumping. How does bunny hopping fit in with that? Yeah, I could be spending this time by myself in a server trying to bunny hop over and over again, but that really doesn't seem that appealing to me. It's completely different than practicing with a certain weapon, or practicing a strat, where you are actually playing the game.
Actually Valve has tried to remove it in the past, but way too many people who didn't want to play the game the way the developers meant it to be played complained and they put it back in...sounds familiar...
... bhopping is fine as long as the hitboxes follows!!! The speed I can handle, its the fact that the hitbox are way behind the player and 1 out 10 you can't hit him but he can hit you as soon as he stops.

Don't start on realism in this game. Argue on the fair play. Even really good player I know don't Bhop just to play fair!
Bunny hopping is a glitch, exploit, or whatever else you want to call it, plain and simple. It was something that was never intended to be in the game either. I'm sure the developers didn't sit down one day and say 'hey, let's make bunny hopping possible'.
It's a skill that can be learned, or one that can be obtained by other means. For those who spend the time to learn it, more power to them. For those who obtain it through other means, well shame on you then.
All it is, is a way to gain an unfair advantage against those players who either never learned how to do it, or never 'installed' it.
In the end, it's not something that was ever intended to be in the game. Why it's being allowed in TWL is beyond me.

zb_bunnyfix 1
what meandrunk said... btw, i'm a happy drunk...
B Hopping was not intended to be part of the game. In fact, Steam addressed this issue with the 1/2 pause when jumping. Now you (TWL) are now changing the way the game is going to be able to be played.

If you guys are trying to get the CAL (Cheats Are Legal) Players over here by allowing these type of scripts. You will lose all your integrity as being a FAIR AND CLEAN competition community. TWL's rules and integrity are the reasons I play here.
Oh can you tell me when I will be able to play CS:S the way it was intended in Ladder play? I looked for the CS:S NO ILLEGAL SCRIPTS ALLOWED ladders and couldn't find it.

It wasn't the developers intent to put bunnyhopping in the game, but it was their choice to keep it.

I think bhop works really well in GunGame, but when playing regular CS the truth is the maps were made based on the regular timing of the game, not on a couple of players going warp speed to a bombsite.. it messes with the intended flow of the game and I can see why people wouldn't like that.

But the old saying goes "if you can't beat em, join em". Go spend a day on a bhop server and at least develop the basic ability to even things up against a team who uses it.
Way to revive a dead thread ender...
toofaho try reading the rule than ? because scripts are illegal k thanx
