Team Dawgs has done an impressive thing: They have played over 500 matches in BF2 and have now decided to retire. They have played in both NA divisions and EU divisions. For EU, they played in the 5v5 Alpha League, 2v2 Chopper and the 5v5 Infantry. For NA, they played in the 5v5 Tier 3, 5v5 SF, 5v5 Infantry and 8v8 Conquest. I interviewd YouDied and Dan from Team Dawgs to get some insight into their team dynamics and what makes them tick.
GoddessWolfie: Last we spoke you guys had done over 500 matches in BF2. Is that about right still?
YouDied: Yah a little more now, and we finally finished doing BF2 on TWL and just removed ourselves from it last night and shifted into Quake Wars and World In Conflict.
GoddessWolfie: How long have you guys been together as a clan?
YouDied: Coming on 6 years in June.
GoddessWolfie: How does it feel to end BF2?
Dan: Happy. So nice not to have that game on my HDD anymore.
YouDied: It's a game that we feel is slowly dying.
Dan: Is? Has.
YouDied: Most of the teams we have been playing with for 2 years, have all switched into WiC, and QW:ET.
GoddessWolfie: Why did you chose TWL as your ladder community?
YouDied: There's always been a lot of ladders and more fun playing on TWL. Made a lot more friends then enemies. And for the most part, we could always count on the admins to back us up when needed; good staff. We have made TWL our main Home for these past years, and I think that once the ladders for WiC and QW start up, our team will definitely join in on them.
Dan: We have been playing at TWL for about two years and never really had any problems so I can't see us changing. Might join some other ladders but would stay with TWL.
GoddessWolfie: How hard is it to manage EU and NA teams?
Dan: Not hard in my opinion.
YouDied: We let everyone play, that's the best thing about us. We don't have "starters". It doesn't matter how good you are, if you want to play you can.
Dan: I have no life like some of the other EU teams, so we can stay up for NA times; the only thing that is bad is pings. When we have three people with 100+ pings and the other team has all below 20.
YouDied: And we still win, that's a good feeling to us. I don't think there has ever been a time we have played another team, in our server or theirs, where the other team didn't have a better ping than us. It doesn't matter, our players are all over the world. So it doesn't matter where the servers are located, there will always be a core amount of players with bad pings. Unless the server was in Florida where a vast majority of our players are.
Dan: There will never be servers there. They would get blown away.
YouDied: This is true.
GoddessWolfie: What drives Team Dawgs to have stayed together all this time and play together?
Dan: We never even practice. We just jumped on and played, whatever the map/ladder.
YouDied: We have done surprisingly well for ourselves in my eyes, I mean we always pretty much stayed in Top 10 of all the ladders, with very little practice and scrims...I think if we gave as much effort as a lot of the other teams with practicing and scrimming, we would definitely win a lot more than we already have. And as for that question, we have always been a tight group of friends and family.
Dan: Our very laidbackness. We can all sit on TS and just have a joke all the time - without playing a game. We have been playing since 1942 and many of the core members are still here, we're more friends than 'clan mates'.
YouDied: A lot of us know each other in person, and have met one another, there are only a select few that we have yet to meet.
GoddessWolfie: What do you want the TWL community to know about Team Dawgs?
YouDied: This is a good question. Let me think about that for a moment.
Dan: That we're the best and whatever we say is final.
YouDied: LOL No, I would say, just to have Respect for every team out there, good or bad, especially the long vets; maybe to slow down with all the cheating accusations, and just enjoy the game. That's why we are all here in the first place. Everyone just wants to have fun. We are a strong core group of friends and family, and we enjoy that about us, we don't have to play 24/7 practicing and scrimming all the time to be good. We work well together.
GoddessWolfie: Is there anything that you guys want us to know that wasn't covered here?
Dan: That we love everyone out there.
YouDied: If anyone wants to play with just a relaxed, mellow gaming group and is looking for a home for good fun, then stop by and check us out. We are a proud group. Must be 18+.
GoddessWolfie: Thank you very much both of you.
Dan: Thanks for your time.
YouDied: Thanks for your time. Much Love from Team DAWGS to Goddess . Time for ICE CREAM!!!!
Team Dawgs has done something many clans hope to achieve. They have been together for many years, are still going strong and can now retire from a good time with one game and start a new tradition with new games. Congrats to Team Dawgs on their accomplishments and continued success!
