Welcome to Season 4 of the Counter-Strike: Source NA 5v5 League!
Its that time again. The new season of Counter-Strike: Source is soon to begin and we are under new management. That means change is upon us.
This also means for all who want to sign up you have a homework assignment. Please read the new rules in their entirety at least once. I will highlight some of the bigger changes here:
Makeup matches. Yes, you read it correctly. We will be allowing a limited number of makeup matches for those who join late in the season. Also, we will hold 1 week of makeup matches after regular season ends for those wishing to makeup for 1 forfeit win.
Due to the addition of makeup matches, forfeit wins and byes no longer contribute to rounds won. Point structure will still be 3 points for a win, 1 point for a loss, and 0 points for a forfeit loss.
We now have in place stricter rules on forfeits. Borrowing from the Euro leagues rules, if a team does not post anything in match comms up until 1 hour prior to match start, that team will be removed from the league even if it is their first forfeit. Same as before, teams with 2 forfeits will also be removed.
To conform with the other TWL CS:S ladders and leagues, we will be requiring the use of zBlock MAX this season. This a good program that will hopefully keep things fair in terms of settings.
Disputing rules remain intact. I mention them here to just remind the community that if you plan to dispute we require detailed information, especially for cheat accusations.
All other rules are the same or similar to prior seasons. I repeat to please read everything at least once to find the minor changes.
Now onto the fun stuff. We have an exciting map list for you this season. We plan to introduce two new maps this season (de_russka and de_villa) and offer you a chance to vote on whether to integrate de_villa into the regular season (de_russka was already voted in by the NA ladders and EU league). Also, since we know many of you compete in CAL as well, we are attempting to reduce your map practice workload by matching their map cycle the best that we can (sorry, but CPL maps are still off limits to us). Here is this seasons tentative map list:
Pre-season:
Week 1: de_russka
Week 2: de_villa
Regular Season:
Week 1 : de_train
Week 2 : de_dust2
Week 3 : de_contra
Week 4 : de_losttemple/de_villa
Week 5 : de_russka
Week 6 : de_cbble
Week 7 : de_nuke
Week 8 : de_inferno
And now for the most important news. Signups are open. We are thinking of a tentative start date of May 23rd for the Open League and May 25th for the Main League. If you have been invited to join the Main League, remember you must sign up for the Open League first and you will then be moved up to Main.
Everyone who reads this, please spread the word. The more teams that sign up the more fun for everyone involved.
If you have any questions, please visit us on IRC at #twl_cs. We will be waiting for you !
