We're back again! The summer of '05 is almost over, and the software developers are back from their vacations. Lots of news has come out in the past few weeks that are buzzing around the gaming world. So The Warfare Ledger is right on top of these events. This time, we're talking baseball, corpse camping, comics, movies, and more!
MLB Player Rafael Palmiero won't need a bat boy
Viagra spokesperson and Baltimore Oriole ballplayer, Rafael Palmiero was suspended from Major League Baseball after testing positive for performance enhancing drugs. After becoming a Viagra spokesperson, Rafael's batting average that went from .220 to over .300, proving that Viagra did have an effect on his bat. Routine drugs tests confirmed that Rafael was indeed taking performance enhancing drugs and was suspended from gameplay for 10 days.
In addition the the MLB mandated 10-day suspension Rafael will be prohibited from uttering the following phrases:
Got a little wood on that one
Pine Tar that Grip
Corked Bat
Choke up on this pitch
Game-maker Electronic Arts announced that it's next version of the popular EA Sports MLB 200x series will include a little blue tab for players to click on to enhance the virtual Rafael, since realism is part of the game's popularity.
WoW thugs harass a n00b!
Well is sux to be dead. It's real lousy to get a bullet in the pelvis. But when both happen on the same day, you have to blame those damned World of Warcraft role-players.
Rio de Janeiro - A dead woman lying in her casket was hit by a stray bullet during a wake as mourners fled in panic. According to Reuters, a guild of warcraft role-players were attacking the guards in a slum adjacent to where the funeral was taking place. A stray bullet pierced the casket inside the cemetery's chapel and got lodged in the corpse's pelvis."
Rio has one of the world's highest murder rates and it looks like Blizzard is giving extra Honor Kill points for corpse camping there.
Taking grief to new levels in Brazil
Web Comic Juggernauts Square off in World of Warcraft
As the saying goes, "Just when I think I get out, they PUUUUULLL me back in..."
Seems even though the game is approaching one year since its release, World of Warcraft is still as big a draw as ever. In fact, so much so, that two longtime rival webcomics, Penny Arcade and PvP, have decided to take their feud ingame.
Both groups have been urging fans to join the new PvP server, Dark Iron, and help wage war against the opposing side. PvP playing Horde, and Penny Arcade playing Alliance. In less then one day, both groups are boasting guilds of maximum size (500 members) and a willingness to decimate the opposition. In fact, so many people have joined this new server because of this feud, that it has already crashed twice requiring reboots.
Seems like a fun way to improve interest in the game, and the webcomics while giving a little something back to the fans. The Teamwarfare guild should reroll on Dark Iron and see if they can offer a little competition...

Mortal Kombat 3: More Fataler!
Who else forgot to watch the feature films based on this classic fighting title? Well, the first one was pretty cool and did exceptionally well at the box office. We at The Warfare Ledger thought the sequel was a direct-to-HBO release. Despite this, it seems like the third film of an epic trilogy is plunging ahead with production.
Mortal Kombat 3, tentatively subtitled Devastation, is currently scouting for possible filming locations in Louisiana but there is no word yet on Cast, Crew, or Release Date. According to IMDB, several of the previous case including Christopher Lambert and Linden Ashby will return to their previous roles, although this is subject to change. Whether this movie should be made at all, is a subject for debate. Undoubtedly, the newest release will be on par with epic films like Best of the Best: II and Street Fighter
Please! Eric Roberts needs work!
PS3 in 07?
In a strange, but not so unbelieveable move, Sony may delay the release of the PS3 until 2007. Instead, they may choose to, ride the coat tails of a severely underpriced $99 dollar PS2 for 2006 and completely avoid the head to head battle with Microsoft and the XBox 360. This is probably not a bad idea at all since Sony realized tremendous success by releaseing the the PSP months after the the Nintendo DS. Additionally, by 2007, the 360 will be old news and fans will surely jump all over a more powerful alternative by then.
It will be interesting to see how this all pans out. If Sony does decide to strategically wait, how will Microsoft whether the storm that would surely decimate their sales come 2007? One things for certain though, no one is afraid of the PC market... *sniff*
Virginia woman loves the sausage
Sonya Thomas, a 99lb Virginia woman claimed the title of the Brat-Eating World Champion when she ignored her gag reflex and swallowed 35 bratwursts in 10 minutes. The Burger King manager, who also goes by the name "The Black Widow" in the frenzied world of competitive eating, also holds records for hard boiled eggs and chicken wings.
One spectator said they felt nauseous watching Ms. Thomas compete. Most male spectators were strangely aroused.
MMMmmm! Brats.. so long... and meaty!
The World of Double-U - Tee - Eff ?
Family of dead man deny his last wishes.
Popular Pekin, Ohio local celebrity, Robert Norton, was denied his last wishes when family members buried him fully clothed. A World War II veteran, Mr Norton enjoyed gardening naked, amongst other naked activities. This hobby brought the attention of his neighbors and local police. Defending his constitutional right to walk around in his birthday suit was also another hobby of Mr. Norton's, since he fought at least 20 arrests for public lewdness since 1962.
"We didn't really know him. We just had him arrested,"said neighbor, Brenda Loete. "Normally, if we had him arrested in the spring he'd be gone for the summer and we wouldn't have to worry about him until the next spring."
Like Wilson..... but naked
