uhh, legende, comkill.............i dont know what article youre reading. the only place that ANY GF3 beats the slowest *real* GF4(the 4200) is in the memory bandwidth test. the 4200 creams the GF3's in game.
Mark Rein said in a recent IRC chat that he plays the game "well" at his home computer which is a P3 @ 800Mhz and a GeForce 2 GTS. I'm certain we'll all be able to whoop some in some degree.
GF3 beats the hell out of the GF4MX
GF3DDR and GF3TI500 are almost as strong as the GF4TI4200 but the 4200 still beat the TI500 and ddr.
Just do a benchmark on those cards, you will see
So the I don't remember was MX!
And for a better fact, I use Anandtech that can be used for a good refference. Am not sure that UT2K3 will be fun on a P3800, GF2... I will have to test that one day, but I know even with my computer, the top details and all slower my machine, it's doesn't get jumpy.. only slower FPS drops to 30 or less... Now if your playing competitions 30 or less is REALLY BAD. ... humm again, it depends some people manage to like that
Oh by the way, don't count on CVAR tweaks in UT2K3. And yes, it's only the beta and leak version that I have, so it's possible the game will be much better since I have a version that's almost 2 months old and one that is 8 months old.
Based on the 927 build that I've played on a GeForce 2 MX, GeForce 3 Ti200, GeForce 3 Ti500, and GeForce 4 MX, I can tell you that you need AT LEAST a GeForce 3 Ti of some sort to be able to see all the visual effects.
On the GeForce 2 MX and GeForce 4 MX certain textures are messed up because the cards are not capable to producing some special effects.
You can still run the game but some textures and special effects won't work properly.
ManBeef, a GF4 MX will NOT run this game to its fullest extent, at least based on the build that I've played. There are screwed up textures. Post edited by Creamy Goodness at 8/24/2002 1:30:50 PM
Creamy, It ran fine for me, was a higher end system, 2.2 ghz P4, 512 MB DDR, and GF4 MX.
It ran fine, I don't know about all the effects, not everyone plays a game for pretty effects, I turn them off the majority of the time just for a large FPS increase and I care about gameplay more than graphics
