Petition to make interpolate a cheat

this is retarded. interpolate is an option in the game.. that would be like taking out huds or moving chatline

Petition to ban people with ping under 44 and fps over 60 because it makes their cg too powerful and gives them "an advantage"...

Plus I have devised/discovered a secret server side script that can detect such cheats as low ping. If you press "tab"... then you can access the pings of any player on the server and thus ban accordingly.

Technically speaking, low ping is a worse "cheat" than interpolate... at least with interpolate, ANYONE can use it, but not everyone can get a low ping

No, this is retarded.

The fact that this parameter doesn't exist in any of the configuration files (at least I couldn't find it) and for one to discover it on their own would require that they go triapsing through the Tribes.exe file using the appropriate debugger means that it was never meant to be exposed to players much less modified.

Therefore, it shouldn't be modified. Q.E.D.

(But, it is.)

The real question should be: should the means to do this be published far and wide so that no one can claim that they are disadvantaged because they can't also turn off interpolation?

In all seriousness, it can be implemented:

1) Modify the TWL maps so that they require a VOL file to be present on the client.
2) When the VOL file is loaded, it checks for the existence of the cheats.
3) If found, use the RemoteEval function (isn't that what it's called?) to log the client information on the server.
4) Broadcast a message to all clients on the server.

Someone is bound to pick it up, given that demos are required in all TWL matches. And, if not, the server logs will show it.

Of course, this will require that all maps in the TWL rotation be modified to refer to the anti-hack VOL file. This will be tedious at best.

The way around this, I believe, is to use the non-CRC hacked version of Tribes and replace the anti-hack VOL file with a version that skips the check.

I honestly do not believe that reliably scanning clients' machines for the existence of cheats is possible.

I would love if someone can get a server side script for it as was done for chainsparks. This game has gone downhill since this script has been let out. Some of the top teams rely of the script b/c all they do is chain.

what's the big deal... just hev cap and get faster... if you get chained you will learn to avoid it and it will make you even better... they may get a little edge but hell the shit is not "absolute"... they still have to aim and they will still have to get past your disk, sooooo I say "chain me cause I'll be coming" catch ya in the game...
